Travel Insurance

Whether you are going on a one week vacation host exchange or planning a year long trip around the world purchasing travel insurance might be a good idea.
There are plenty of travel insurance companies that offer a variety of coverage:
- lost luggage
- cancelled flights
- accidents and other medical emergencies
- stolen passport, wallet or cash
- trip cancellation due to illness, inclement weather or terrorism attack
If you are flying to a far away destination and your airline ticket is expensive you might want to purchase travel insurance to protect yourself against last minute cancellation. Your trip took a long time to arrange but it could only take one second to ruin it. Check your current insurance coverage policy. Your insurance policy might provide most of the coverage you need.
Also, look at the coverage offered by your Visa or Master Card. Some credit cards provide coverage for purchase of airline tickets and other travel related expenses. If your Visa Card does not offer any benefits you could research other credit card offers and apply for the one with best coverage.

It is your responsibility to obtain appropriate passport and visa. It is also your responsibility to know and obey the laws of both your home and your host country. If in doubt, consult your attorney.
