Guest should be given a spare key of the house so that they are not made to wait outside for long. The host should not take any favours from the guest like cooking, cleaning, lifting heavy items, baby sitting, shopping etc. The guest with family and kids should be allowed access to the kitchen and other household items like washing machine, iron, microwave etc. The host and guest can together go out for short trips and this way both get a new company and get to know each other better. The host generally cooks food according to their local custom. The host in the homestay families is generally warm, affectionate and have lot of patience.
